You were told if you had a website, your clients would come running. So you got on google, researched how to create a website, and did just that. Congrats!
But it’s been a few weeks, and while your website is gaining a bit of traffic, you have no orders, no inquiries, and your bounce rate is high, meaning visitors are leaving without taking any actions?
Where is everyone?
One of the main reasons for this (and I’m sorry to tell you), but your site is BORING. Most people have short attention spans so you need to grab their attention within the first 5 seconds or less.
The best way to stand out is to be unique. Have you ever gone down an internet rabbit-hole and saw a few sites that were similar? Did that make you want to keep scrolling? Probably not! If your site is looking like everyone else’s, your audience could dismiss the legitimacy of your business. Show your personality. Use designs and colors and fonts that complement what makes your brand different!
It’s 2021 and times and design trends are changing fast! Customers are more likely to respond to modern designs due to sleekness. And if you take care of your website, your audience will feel like you will take care of them as well. (Helpful tip: unless you want to continuously change your site, try and stay away from super trendy designs. While they can be beautiful and fun, they usually are only in style for less than 5 years)
These items could make your site easy to read and follow. But when both of these are bad, it can be very off-putting to a customer. For example, I absolutely LOVE script fonts. But if you’ve visited other pages of my site, you’ll see that I only use my script font sparingly and for certain headings.
Remember back in the day when websites were just one long text block and you had to fish for information? Please, don’t make your customer have to do that. Separate by using headings, subheadings, and photos.
Using these tips above will make your website stand out and not be boring! Let me know which tip you will implement from now on.
